Must-Visit Camarines Norte Adventure Spots

It’s not hard to fall in love with the beauty of Camarines Norte. Apart from its famous Calaguas Group of Islands, which boasts of pristine waters and mesmerizing long beaches perfect for families to lovers, Camarines Norte has a long list of off-the-beaten destinations, locals and foreigners gamely seek.

But during this time, when the waves are high, and the island hopping activities are on its off-season, one can still get amazed by the beauty it has to offer even though inland sightseeing and even adventure trips. Even when not in the waters, Camarines Norte’s inland tourist sites are still as beautiful and amazing as that in the beaches and islands. The list goes on and on for thrilling activities for every traveler, which makes Camarines Norte a great choice of getaway even for just a couple of days.

Trekking Tan-Awang Bato

In Labo, Camarines Norte, half an hour away from capital town Daet, an adventure getaway is waiting to be discovered. Tan-Awang Bato is a big rock seated perfectly in a luscious, green mountain where you can see the whole town of Labo and its neighboring towns. It also gives you a perfect glimpse of the long Labo River, where yearly festivities are being held, and the array of greenery brought by tall coconut trees swaying with the winds.

As you go trekking into the forestry mountain, you will pass by big boulders of rocks and a couple of nipa huts. One stunning yet a tad tricky sight are big rocks that form a cave-like scene. There you will be greeted by hundreds of bats, which home is the dark corners of rocks seated atop one another. You may rest in its eerie yet majestic vibe before trekking again for minutes before reaching the rock.

After you get to see the sights offered while in Tan-Awang Bato, you can pass by Turayog Falls as you go down the hill. Turayog Falls is where cool waters cascades from the mountains, slowly dispersing to the field.

There you can rest and have lunch, and then dip some more in the midst of big boulders of rocks as your backdrop. Make sure you secure a guide when going up and register your names in the tourism office of Labo for safety precautions. In the coming years, the Labo town is eyeing a boost in its tourism on this adventure hike.

Bask in Binuang Falls

If you still can’t resist lounging into cool waters, then Binuang Falls is just waiting for you in Brgy. Daguit, Labo town. This is one of the falls that are very easy to reach. You need not to allot extra effort in hiking and braving forestry surrounding as this one has been developed by the locals.

Just a hundred meters away from the main road is the three layered-falls called Binuang Falls, which is a perfect escape for a weekend with the family or with your friends as you share over sumptuous home-cooked dishes. A couple of nipa huts will greet you as you enter the vicinity of the falls. From there, you will see cemented pathways that lead to the foot of the falls, where you can see kids plunging and playing around.

The curtain-like water wonder creates an exciting wonder of diving into its not-so-deep natural pool. And while kids can frolic around it, adventure seekers may still find thrill in visiting this falls. They can trek on the side of the falls to reach its upper layers, which are smaller yet more serene. Trekking time takes up to 15 minutes and more, depending on your pace. Be careful, though, in trekking to avoid slipping.

Longest Zipline in Bicol Region

For a more thrilling ride, San Lorenzo Ruiz, Camarines Norte welcomes you to its 750-meter Matacong Zip Line, which was inaugurated October last year to pave the way for the town for an added attraction.

This comes next after the Philippines’ longest zipline, which is in Dahilayan Adventure Park in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.  The ride will give you a glimpse of the sea on the right side while the green, luscious mountains on the left are filled with coconut trees.  The ride, which lasts for a couple of minutes, is so long you get to forget you were scared in the first place.

Trying looking into the ground, if you are not afraid of heights, and revel into the beauty of the sea of coconut trees below you. After going to the other side, you need to walk uphill for a couple of minutes to reach the zipline going back. If you started your day early, you can take the challenge of a one-hour trek to Nacali Falls.

During this time of the year until January to mid-February, the waves are high in some parts of Camarines Norte, but you can still marvel at the province’s beauty through its inland tours. It will still leave you speechless, breathless even. And you will still long to see more.
